László MIKLÓS
Minister of the Environment of the Slovak Republic
László Miklós was born in Tornaľa on 24th January 1949. From 1968-1973, he studied Physical and Regional Geography at the Faculty of Natural Science of Comenius University, Bratislava.
From 1973 to 1990, he worked at the Institute of Experimental Biology and Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, and from June 1990 to September 1992 as the Deputy Chairman of the Slovak Commission for the Environment and as Deputy Minister. From November 1992 to April 1994, he was Department Head at the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and Chairman of the Scientific Council. Since May 1995, he has worked at the UNESCO Department of Ecological Awareness and Permanently Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Sciences of the Technical University in Zvolen. He has lectured at universities in Denmark and Austria (1994-1996).
László Miklós has successfully completed many post-graduate studies and individual courses at home and abroad.
He is the author of a number of scientific works dealing with the environment, project programmes, and courses, both at Slovak and foreign universities. He is currently engaged in pedagogical activities at the Faculty of Natural Science of Comenius University in Bratislava and at the Technical University in Zvolen.
